Your Seat at the Table
Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. - Luke 22:14
There’s something deeply intimate about sharing a meal. It’s more than just food, it’s about connection, trust, and presence. In Luke 22:14, Jesus sits down with His disciples for the Passover meal, knowing what’s ahead. Yet, He chooses to be with them, to share this moment. It’s a reminder that Jesus meets us where we are, in our everyday moments, offering His presence and peace.
Reflecting on this, Psalm 92:1-2 reminds us of the importance of gratitude: “It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High.” In our busy lives, taking time to acknowledge God’s goodness can transform our perspective. It shifts our focus from what’s lacking to what’s abundant.
Proverbs 14:1-2 offers wisdom on building our lives: “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. Whoever fears the Lord walks uprightly.” Our choices matter. Building a life rooted in wisdom and reverence for God leads to stability and peace.
In Judges 2:10-3:31, we see the cycle of Israel turning away from God and then returning. It’s a pattern we can relate to, moments of faithfulness followed by times of wandering. Yet, God remains faithful, always ready to welcome us back.
As we go about our day, let’s remember that Jesus invites us to His table, offering His presence and peace. May we choose to sit with Him, give thanks, and build our lives on His wisdom.
Reflection Question: How can you make space today to sit with Jesus and acknowledge His presence in your life?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for inviting me to Your table. Help me to recognize Your presence in my daily life and to build my life on Your wisdom. I choose to sit with You today, giving thanks for Your goodness and faithfulness. In Jesus Name, Amen.
