Overflowing Love

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.” - 1 Thessalonians 3:12 (NLT)

Paul’s prayer for the Thessalonian believers is a beautiful one, isn’t it? He prays that their love for one another, and for everyone, would grow and overflow. It’s a love that doesn’t just stay contained but spills over, reaching others, impacting their lives. This is a love that reflects the heart of God.

When we think about that kind of love, it’s only possible when we allow ourselves to be loved first. It’s not about achieving perfection; it’s about allowing God’s love to grow in us. Then, as we continue to experience God’s faithfulness and love, it naturally flows out of us. Just as a tree, deeply rooted in good soil, produces healthy fruit, our lives, rooted in God’s love and grace, will overflow with that same love.

Psalm 80 also speaks to God’s faithfulness. The psalmist cries out for restoration, remembering how God has been faithful in the past and asking for that same care and attention. It’s a beautiful picture of how God has never abandoned His people, even in times of struggle. When we feel overwhelmed or discouraged, we can hold onto the truth that God’s love is unshakable. He is the source of all good things, and He will never leave us or forsake us.

So today, let’s focus on allowing God’s love to grow in our hearts. Let it overflow into our relationships and interactions with others. As we do, we’ll see His faithfulness shine through our lives.

Reflection Question: How can you allow God’s love to overflow in your relationships, showing His faithfulness to others?

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your unwavering love and faithfulness. Help me to let Your love grow in my heart so that it overflows to everyone around me. May my life reflect Your goodness and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
