Working That Really Counts

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. - Colossians 3:23 (NLT)

It’s easy to get caught up in the routine of daily life. Whether we’re going to work, taking care of our homes, or dealing with the everyday responsibilities, it can sometimes feel like we’re just going through the motions. But in Colossians 3, Paul reminds us that everything we do should be done as if we’re doing it for the Lord, not just for people. This perspective can change everything.

When we shift our focus from just ā€œgetting things doneā€ to honoring God with our actions, we begin to see purpose in every moment. It’s about living with integrity in the small things and knowing that God sees it all. He’s with us in every task, no matter how big or small, and He’s ready to empower us to do it with excellence and joy.

Psalm 78Ā paints a powerful picture of God’s faithfulness and His desire for us to live according to His ways. Even when the Israelites stumbled, God didn’t give up on them. He continually led them with love and patience. We can take comfort in the fact that God never gives up on us either. No matter what mistakes we’ve made or how many times we fall short, He’s right there, ready to guide us back to Him.

Today, let’s approach everything we do with a renewed sense of purpose. Let’s be reminded that in all we do, we are working for the Lord. Whether we’re at work, with our families, or in our community, God has a plan for us to be a reflection of His love and grace.

Reflection Question: How can you bring a sense of purpose to the tasks you have today, knowing you’re doing them for the Lord?

Prayer: Father, thank You for the reminder that everything I do is for You. Help me to approach each task with a heart of gratitude and a desire to honor You. Give me the strength to live with integrity in all things. In Jesus name, Amen.
