When the Answer Comes Knocking

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. - James 5:16 (NLT)

Have you ever prayed for something so deeply and for so long that when the answer actually showed up you could hardly believe it? It is wild how that happens. We pour out our hearts to God day after day and then when He moves, we are the ones caught off guard.

I have been there. There was something I carried in prayer for years. I prayed through seasons of hope and seasons where I honestly wondered if anything was shifting. But then one day the answer came. It felt almost surreal. It was like my prayer had grown legs and knocked on my front door.

That is exactly what happened in Acts 12. Peter had been thrown in prison and the early church feared the worst. So they did the only thing they knew to do: they prayed. They prayed with everything they had. And then God moved. Chains fell off. An angel showed up. Peter walked right out of that prison like it was no big deal.

Then he went to the house where the believers were gathered praying for him, and he knocked on the door. A young girl named Rhoda came to answer. When she heard Peter’s voice she was so stunned she ran back inside without even letting him in. They had been praying for a miracle, and it was standing at the door.

God still works like that. Sometimes He answers quietly. Sometimes He shows up with fireworks. But either way He hears us. He moves. He’s not distant, and He is not ignoring your prayers.

So today let your heart be stirred with fresh faith. Keep praying. Keep seeking. Stay open to the unexpected ways God may choose to answer. And when the answer comes knocking, do not be too surprised to open the door.

Reflection Question: What is one prayer you have been carrying that you need to trust God with fully again today?

Prayer: Father, thank You for hearing every word I pray. Thank You that nothing I bring to You is ignored or wasted. Help me to pray with faith and expectation. And when You answer, remind me to welcome it with joy and gratitude. I trust You with the timing and the outcome. In Jesus’ name, amen.
