When God Shows Up
Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, ‘A great prophet has risen up among us’; and, ‘God has visited His people.’ - Luke 7:16 (NKJV)
Ever had one of those moments when you were just going about your day, and then, bam!, God shows up in a way that takes your breath away? That’s exactly what happened in Luke 7:11–35. Jesus was entering the town of Nain when He encountered a widow mourning her only son. Moved with compassion, He told her, “Do not weep,” then raised her son from the dead. The crowd was in awe, saying, “God has visited His people.”
This wasn’t just a miracle; it was a revelation. Jesus wasn’t just passing through; He was making a statement: God is here, and He cares deeply about our pain and loss. He didn’t wait for the widow to ask for help; He saw her need and responded with compassion.
In our own lives, we often wait for the perfect moment or the right words to invite God in.
But sometimes, He shows up uninvited, meeting us in our grief, our confusion, our everyday moments. And when He does, it's not just about the miracle; it's about the message: God is with us.
Psalm 68:19 reminds us, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits.” Even when we don't recognize it, God is actively involved in our lives, bringing comfort, healing, and hope.
So, if you're feeling overlooked or overwhelmed today, know this: God sees you. He’s not distant or detached. He’s present, compassionate, and ready to show up in your life in unexpected ways.
Reflection Question: Can you recall a time when God showed up unexpectedly in your life? How did that experience change your perspective?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your constant presence in our lives. Help us to recognize Your hand at work, even in the ordinary moments. Open our eyes to see Your compassion and Your miracles, and give us the faith to trust that You are always with us. In Jesus Name, Amen.
