When God Shows Up
“Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message.” Acts 10:44 (NLT)
Sometimes God shows up in a room before we even know what to expect. That is exactly what happened when Peter was speaking at Cornelius’s house. He was still in the middle of explaining the Gospel, and before he could finish his message, the
Holy Spirit moved powerfully. Everyone there felt it. No one was left out.
Cornelius was a Roman centurion, someone outside of what people considered the “in crowd” when it came to faith. But his heart was open. He had been seeking God, praying, and honoring the Lord as best he knew how. And God responded. He not only sent Peter to his house but also sent His Spirit in a way that confirmed the Gospel was truly for everyone.
This moment was more than just a powerful encounter. It was a reminder that God’s presence does not follow our schedules or our expectations. He does not wait for things to be perfect. He simply looks for open hearts. When we show up hungry, He shows up ready.
Psalm 134 encourages us to bless the Lord and lift our hands in worship. There is something powerful about posturing ourselves in praise and expectation. Whether you are in a church service, at home, or in a quiet moment during the day, you never know when God might move in a fresh way. He delights in meeting with you.
Reflection Question: Are you creating space in your life for God to show up, even in unexpected ways?
Prayer: Father, thank You that Your Spirit is always ready to move. Soften my heart and help me make space for You today. Let me never put limits on what You can do. I welcome You into every part of my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
