Waiting and Trusting

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. - Psalm 62:1 (NLT)

In a world of instant gratification, waiting can be incredibly difficult. Whether it’s for a new job, a breakthrough, or a long-awaited promise, the waiting period feels like an eternity. And it’s in this time of waiting that our faith can be tested. Some may even find themselves discouraged, wondering if God has forgotten them or if their prayers have gone unanswered.

John Waller, a hopeful musician, faced such a season of waiting. He had a dream of breaking into the music business, a dream he believed God had placed in his heart. After raising money to record an album and sending it to record labels, months passed with no response. Depression began to creep back into his life, depression he had once been delivered from.

But one day, a friend reminded him to remain faithful to where God had placed him. Instead of losing heart, John chose to continue serving God, worshiping Him, and trusting that the Lord would fulfill His promise in due time. From this moment of surrender, John wrote the song “While I’m Waiting.” To his surprise, the song was chosen as the theme for the movie Fireproof, which went on to be one of the top-grossing films of 2008.

David, the author of Psalm 62, knew a thing or two about waiting. In his own season of waiting, he found his security and strength in God, the “Rock” (Psalm 62:2). David’s trust wasn’t in the outcome, but in God’s faithfulness.

As we wait on the Lord, may we remember that He is our foundation and our victory will come, just as He has promised.

Reflection Question: How can you continue to serve and worship God while you are waiting for your breakthrough?

Prayer: Father, I thank You for being my Rock during times of waiting. Help me to remain faithful and trust in Your timing. May my heart stay focused on You as I wait, knowing that my victory will come from You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
