Unconditional

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people. - Leviticus 26:12 (NLT)

What would drive someone like the Apostle Paul to keep preaching the Gospel even through beatings, prison, shipwrecks, and rejection? The answer is simple, Jesus. Paul had experienced the power of the Good News firsthand, and he knew it was worth everything. What made the Gospel so good? It wasn’t just the message of salvation, it was the message of unconditional relationship with God through Christ.

In Leviticus 26, God made it clear that His blessings would be based on Israel’s obedience. If they kept the law, they would be blessed. If they broke it, they would face a curse. It was a system based on performance, do good, receive good; do bad, receive bad. But Jesus changed everything.

Through His perfect life and sacrificial death, Jesus became the fulfillment of the law and took the curse upon Himself (Galatians 3:13). He removed the barrier between a holy God and sinful people, and opened the door to a relationship that was no longer based on performance, but on grace.

Now, because of Jesus, God’s promise to walk with us and be our God isn’t conditional on our perfection, it’s based on His. His presence, His blessing, and His love are not rewards we earn, but gifts we receive. That’s why Paul could suffer joyfully. He knew the unconditional love of God was the greatest treasure of all.

Today, you don’t have to earn God’s love or fear losing His favor. If you are in Christ, He walks with you always, not because you’ve been perfect, but because Jesus was.

Reflection Question: Are you living as though God’s presence and blessing depend on your performance, or are you resting in His unconditional love through Jesus?

Prayer: Father, thank You that through Jesus, I am no longer under the curse but under Your blessing. Help me to live in the freedom and joy of knowing that Your love and presence are unconditional. Teach me to rest in what Christ has done. In Jesus Name, Amen.
