To Know Him
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. - Psalm 103:13 (NLT)
Some people just surprise you. You think you know who they are based on what others have said, but then you meet them for yourself and realize the picture was all wrong. It happens more than we realize. And honestly, it happens with God too.
Maybe you have heard things about God that made you a little unsure. Maybe you have pictured Him as distant or hard to please. Maybe you thought He was watching and waiting for you to mess up. But that is not the heart of your Father. Not even close.
Psalm 103 gives us a glimpse into the heart of God that is full of grace and overflowing with mercy. He is not looking for reasons to punish. He is looking for moments to restore. He is not standing over you in disappointment. He is walking beside you in love.
David, long before Jesus walked the earth, described a God who forgives freely, heals completely, and loves endlessly. This was not a God he feared in the wrong kind of way. This was a God he trusted like a Father. One who knows our weaknesses yet chooses compassion. One who knows our failures yet responds with mercy.
He does not treat us as our sins deserve. He lifts us when we fall. He fills our lives with good things. That is who He is. And the more you get to know Him, the more you begin to see that every breath of grace is an invitation to draw closer.
So today, lean in. Spend time with Him. Let the truth of who He really is settle into your heart. Because to know Him is to love Him.
Reflection Question: What is one way you can intentionally get to know the heart of your Heavenly Father better?
Prayer: Father, thank You for being kind and compassionate. Thank You for not treating me the way I deserve but instead showering me with mercy and love. Help me know You more and trust You deeply. Open my heart to Your truth and draw me closer every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
