The Rock That Remembers
Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
No one is holy like the Lord! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. - 1 Samuel 2:2 (NLT)
It was one of those perfect spring evenings in our little waterfront town in Eastern North Carolina, clear skies, a soft breeze, and the sun painting the river in golden orange. My wife and I had just finished dinner at one of our favorite waterfront spots, and we decided to take a slow walk out to the end of a nearby pier.
As we stood there taking in the view, I pointed toward a quiet spot on the shoreline and said, “You see that area over there? That’s where I used to pray, asking God to bring the right person into my life.” I looked over at her, and in that moment, it hit me, I was standing beside the answer to those very prayers. The gratitude that filled my heart was overwhelming. God remembered.
That moment reminded me of Hannah in 1 Samuel. She poured out her heart before God, begging for a child. It wasn’t a polished or perfect prayer, it was raw, emotional, and honest. So much so that the priest, Eli, thought she was drunk! But God saw her heart. And in due time, He gave her a son, Samuel.
What I love about this story is how it reminds us that God is not just listening, He’s remembering. Even when we think nothing’s happening, our Rock, steady, unshakable, faithful, is at work behind the scenes.
Reflection Question: Is there a prayer you have been waiting on God to answer? If so, how can you rest in His faithfulness, trusting that He remembers?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for being the Rock that remembers. Help me trust Your timing, even when the wait feels long. I believe You are faithful, and I choose to rest in Your goodness today. In Jesus Name, Amen.
