The Rest of the Story
“When Priscilla and Aquila heard him preaching boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and explained the way of God even more accurately.” Acts 18:26 (NLT)
There’s something powerful about hearing the truth told with passion, but there’s something even more transformative about hearing the full truth with clarity. Apollos was a gifted speaker. He loved God, taught boldly, and preached with sincerity. But there was more to the story that he had not yet heard.
Enter Priscilla and Aquila. This faithful couple didn’t criticize or correct Apollos publicly. They didn’t discount the good he was doing. Instead, they gently pulled him aside and shared what was missing, the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
It is a beautiful reminder that God grows us layer by layer. Sometimes we live for years with a partial understanding of who He is, and then, at just the right time, He invites us into a deeper experience of His truth and grace. That’s not failure. That’s growth.
The Holy Spirit is not an add-on to the Christian life. He is the breath in our lungs, the wisdom behind our words, the strength in our weakness. Without Him, we can know about Jesus and still miss the fullness of life that Jesus died to give us. With Him, our message becomes more than words. It becomes power.
Maybe today you find yourself like Apollos. Sincere. Passionate. Faithful. But there’s a stirring in you that there’s more. There is. And it is not found in striving, but in surrender. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you, guide you, and speak through you. Let Him lead you into the rest of the story.
Reflection Question: Have you invited the Holy Spirit to fully fill and lead your life, or is there a part of the story you still need to discover?
Prayer: Holy Spirit, thank You for being my helper, my guide, and my power. I don’t want to live with only part of the story. Fill me fresh today. Teach me, lead me, and live through me so that my life and words reflect the fullness of Jesus. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
