The Fix

“Everyone who believes in him is made right in God’s sight, something the law of Moses could never do.” Acts 13:39 (NLT)

In the days of the Old Covenant, forgiveness was messy. Literally. The altar and the Ark of the Covenant were stained with the blood of animals, goats, lambs, birds, all sacrificed again and again to cover the sins of the people. It was a system built on repetition and ritual. Necessary, but never quite enough.

Hebrews 9:22 says, “According to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.” That’s how serious and costly sin was. But even with all that effort, the law could never truly make anyone right with God. It only reminded people of how much they needed Him.

Then Jesus came. The perfect Lamb. The once-for-all sacrifice. His blood wasn’t sprinkled on a physical altar but poured out on our behalf and presented before the very throne of Heaven. Through His death and resurrection, the ultimate fix was given, not just a covering for sin, but complete cleansing. The kind that makes us right with God forever.

All we are asked to do is believe. Not perform. Not strive. Not work our way into righteousness. Just trust in what Jesus has already done.

That is grace. That is freedom. That is the better covenant we now live in. The weight we were never meant to carry was lifted at the cross, and now we get to walk in the lightness of forgiveness and the joy of being made new.

Reflection Question: Are you living from a place of striving or resting in what Jesus has already finished for you?

Prayer: Father, thank You for sending Jesus to be the final and perfect sacrifice. I receive Your grace today and choose to rest in the finished work of the cross. Remind me often that I am made right in Your sight through faith, not by my efforts. In Jesus’ name, amen.
