The Ark
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
But Noah found favor with the Lord. - Genesis 6:8 (NLT)
In a world drowning in wickedness, God searched for someone righteous, someone who walked with Him when no one else would. He found Noah. Amid chaos and corruption, Noah stood apart, and because of that, he found favor with God. His reward? A divine blueprint for salvation: the ark.
Noah’s ark was not only a vessel of deliverance from judgment, it was a symbol pointing to something far greater. Just as Noah and his family entered the ark and were saved from the flood, we are invited to enter a different kind of ark, one not made of gopher wood and pitch, but made of flesh and blood: Jesus Christ.
Jesus is our Ark. His very name means “Jehovah is Salvation.” As Proverbs 18:10 tells us, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” In Him, we are sheltered from the coming judgment, not because of our own righteousness, but because of His.
Noah found favor because of his obedience and upright life in a generation that had turned its back on God. We find favor through Jesus, who lived the perfect life we never could. Just as the first Adam brought sin and death into the world, the second Adam, Jesus, brought righteousness and life.
When the floodwaters receded, the dove returned to Noah with an olive branch, a symbol of peace. In the New Testament, we see the Holy Spirit descending on Jesus like a dove, affirming God’s favor and peace through His Son. Because of Jesus, peace with God is not just possible, it’s permanent for those who are in Him.
Today, take heart. You are safe in the Ark of the New Covenant. Run to Jesus, abide in Him, and rest in the peace that only He provides.
Reflection Question: Have you fully stepped into the safety and peace of your Ark, Jesus Christ?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for being my Ark of safety and salvation. Help me to walk in the righteousness You provide and to live each day in the peace and favor found in Jesus. In Jesus' Name Amen.
