Surrounded by Favor
Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. â Psalm 5:12 (NLT)
Thereâs something reassuring about knowing youâre not just getting through life on your own. David, in the middle of crying out to God, makes a bold declaration: You surround the righteous with your favor like a shield. Thatâs not just poetic language. Itâs a picture of protection, of constant presence, and of Godâs goodness going before and behind you.
In Acts 25, Paul stands once again before powerful leaders, accused unfairly, misjudged, and misunderstood. But even in that place, you can sense the quiet thread of Godâs favor. Paul had already received the promise from Jesus that he would testify in Rome. So even when things looked uncertain, Paul stood with confidence. He knew that behind every twist and turn, God was still working. What looked like delay or even danger was being used to move him toward Godâs greater purpose.
Godâs favor doesnât mean life will be easy. But it does mean He is with you in every step. His favor opens doors no one can shut, places you in rooms you never expected, and protects you in ways you may not even see. It is like a shield, covering you, surrounding you, going ahead of you.
You donât have to chase it. You simply walk with Him, trust Him, and let His presence lead. Just like He did for Paul, God will place you exactly where you need to be, right on time.
Reflection Question: Where in your life do you need to trust that Godâs favor is already surrounding you, even if the situation feels uncertain?
Letâs pray together:Â Father, thank You that Your favor surrounds me even when I donât see it clearly. Help me to trust that You are working in every detail of my life. Lead me with Your wisdom, cover me with Your peace, and place me exactly where I need to be for Your purpose. In Jesus name, amen.
