Sunday's Coming

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

Jesus said to her, ‘Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?’ - John 11:40 (NLT)

Imagine the heartache Mary and Martha must have felt when their brother, Lazarus, died. They had sent for Jesus, believing He could heal him, but instead, He arrived too late. Lazarus had already passed away. It’s easy to see how disappointed they must have been, questioning why Jesus didn’t come sooner. But Jesus had a bigger plan in mind, a plan for His glory and for their faith to be deepened.

When we go through trials or face situations that seem like they've died, we often wonder, “Where is God in all this?” We might feel like Mary and Martha, confused, grieving, and unsure of what the outcome will be. But there’s a powerful truth in this story: God’s timing is perfect, and even in the most hopeless situations, He is working for our good.

A wise person once shared with me that God’s vision often goes through three phases: the “birth of the vision,” the “death of the vision,” and then, if it’s meant to be, the “resurrection of the vision.” But sometimes, not everything that dies will come back to life, and that’s okay too. God knows what needs to be resurrected, and He knows what should stay buried.

What do we do when it feels like we’re stuck in the “Saturday” of life, waiting for something to change? We keep our eyes on Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life. We trust that, just like He called Lazarus out of the tomb, He can breathe life into our situations, no matter how dead or hopeless they may seem.

Reflection Question: Is there something in your life that feels “dead” right now? How can you trust God’s timing and believe that He can bring new life to it?

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You are the Resurrection and the Life. Help us trust Your timing even when we don’t understand what You’re doing. Strengthen our faith in the waiting seasons. Breathe life where there is hopelessness, peace where there is fear, and trust where there is uncertainty. We believe You are still working, and we know Sunday’s coming. In Jesus Name, Amen.
