Stronger Than The Storm

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

The heavens pour down rain, and the skies let their floodwaters fall. All your wild animals find a home at it, and the birds shelter in the branches. - Psalm 105:39-40 (NLT)

There is something so reassuring about the way nature holds steady through storms. I love the image of the rain pouring down and wild animals finding shelter. Birds nestle in branches, and creatures seek safe places because they know the storm will pass. Psalm 105 reminds us that even in the most overwhelming times, there is a shelter that cannot be shaken.

Life can sometimes feel like those floodwaters, pouring down without warning. Problems pile up, emotions flood over, and it’s easy to wonder where safety can be found. But here is the beautiful truth, God is our shelter and strength. He does not just watch the storm from afar. He is intimately present, providing a refuge no matter how fierce the wind or how high the waters rise.

The writer of Hebrews shows us that Jesus is the ultimate High Priest, stronger than any earthly power, and able to intercede for us perfectly. His priesthood is eternal, never fading, never failing. Like the animals that instinctively find shelter in the branches, we are invited to find rest and protection in Him.

When the storms come, instead of battling the floodwaters alone, lean into the One who is stronger than the storm. Rest in the peace that comes from knowing you are safe in His hands. Just as the skies open to provide water that nourishes the earth, God’s presence nourishes your soul and renews your strength.

Reflection Question: What storm are you facing today where you need to rest fully in God’s shelter?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for being our refuge and strength. When the storms of life come, help us to trust You fully and find rest in Your everlasting arms. Shield us with Your peace and remind us that we are safe in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
