Seen, Heard, and Held

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayers of the righteous. A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health. - Proverbs 15:29-30 (NLT)

Some days, we don’t need answers, we just need to know someone sees us. Really sees us. We want to know we’re not invisible in the middle of the chaos, the laundry piles, the deadlines, or the silence. We want to be heard without having to shout, and loved without having to earn it.

That’s what struck me about these verses in Proverbs. God hears. And not just the well-worded prayers or the “right” ones. He hears the groans, the whispers, the prayers we don’t even know how to put into words. He hears us because we are His. And He delights in responding with good news, joy, and peace that lifts the weight off our shoulders.

And then there’s the moment in John 13, Jesus kneeling to wash His disciples’ feet. He’s hours away from betrayal, suffering, and death. But instead of pulling back or retreating, He leans in. He serves. He loves. He kneels to the lowest place and says, “I see you. I know where you’ve been. And I still choose you.”

Maybe you’ve been in a season where you’ve felt overlooked or unheard. Maybe you’ve been carrying burdens in silence. Hear this: God hasn’t missed one tear. He hasn't tuned out your prayers. He knows your name, your heart, and your story, and He’s still kneeling beside you, gently reminding you that you're seen, heard, and deeply loved.

Reflection Question: When was the last time you allowed yourself to be fully seen by God, no filter, no performance? What would it look like to bring that honest heart to Him today?

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for being the kind of Savior who kneels, listens, and stays. I don’t always know what to say, but I trust that You hear me anyway. Open my heart to Your nearness today. Let me feel seen and safe in Your presence. In Jesus Name, Amen.
