Sandwiched By Grace

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. - 2 Thessalonians 3:18, NLT

There’s something special about a well-made sandwich, especially in the South. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just a few simple ingredients, like fresh garden tomatoes, a generous spread of Duke’s mayonnaise, and soft, fresh bread. The combination is simple yet satisfying. And just like a good sandwich, the Apostle Paul knew how to craft a message that was both nourishing and comforting.

Paul often began and ended his letters with a blessing of grace. In 2 Thessalonians 3:18, he writes, “May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.” This wasn’t just a formal goodbye; it was a heartfelt wish for God’s unmerited favor and peace to rest upon the readers. It’s like the slices of bread that hold everything together, ensuring that the message is wrapped in love and grace.

Grace is more than just a word; it’s the essence of the gospel. It’s God’s undeserved favor, His love poured out freely, and His presence that sustains us. When we start and end our days with a focus on grace, we’re reminded of God’s constant presence and His unwavering love.

So, as you go about your day, remember that you are surrounded by grace. Let it be the foundation of your thoughts, actions, and interactions. And just like a good sandwich, let grace be the thing that holds everything together.

Reflection Question: How can you begin and end your day with a focus on God's grace? What’s one small step you can take to wrap your day in this unmerited favor?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your grace that surrounds me each day. Help me to recognize Your presence and love in every moment. May Your grace be the foundation of my thoughts and actions, and may I extend that grace to others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
