Safe to Trust Again
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
Putting confidence in an unreliable person in times of trouble is like chewing with a broken tooth or walking on a lame foot. - Proverbs 25:19 (NLT)
We have all leaned on someone who let us down. Maybe it was a friend who promised they would be there and disappeared when it mattered most. Maybe it was someone you confided in who turned your trust into gossip. It hurts. And when it happens enough, it makes you start to guard your heart so tightly that even God gets shut out.
The thing about trust is that it is not just about people. It shapes how we relate to God too. When people fail us, it is easy to start assuming God will fail us too. But He is not like them. He is not unreliable. He is not careless with your heart. He does not promise and then disappear. He does not forget what He said.
The Bible says trusting the wrong person in hard times is like chewing with a broken tooth. You feel that pain every time you try to rely on them. But God is not that kind of pain. He is healing. He is steady. When the pressure is on and the days feel heavy, God is the one you can lean on without fear of collapse.
He knows you have been disappointed. He knows you have carried more than you should have. And He is gently saying, You can trust Me with that. You can trust Me with you.
So maybe the real healing starts with giving your trust back to the only One who will never misuse it.
Reflection Question: Where have you been hesitant to trust God because of how others have let you down? Take a moment and ask God to help you lean on Him fully.
Prayer: Father, I have been hurt by people I trusted. Sometimes that hurt makes it hard to even come to You with open hands. But I want to trust You again. Show me how to let go and lean on You fully. You are faithful and You are kind. I choose to place my trust in You today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
