Safe and Secure
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety. - Proverbs 29:25 (NLT)
It’s amazing how easily we can get caught up in what others think. We may not say it out loud, but deep down, we want to be liked. We want to be approved. We want to be understood. There is nothing wrong with valuing relationships, but when our sense of security depends on the opinions of others, we can feel unstable and anxious.
This proverb says it clearly: the fear of people is a trap. It is sneaky. It might start small, like overthinking what you said in a conversation or hesitating to follow God’s leading because you are afraid of how it will look. But over time, it can grow into something that holds you back from being who God has called you to be.
The good news is that there is a better way. Trusting the Lord leads to safety. It leads to peace. When your confidence is rooted in God’s love and not in the approval of others, you start to live free. You are no longer tied to every shifting opinion. You are steady because He is steady.
Revelation 4 paints a picture of the throne room of heaven. It reminds us of who is really in charge. It reminds us that God is not only good, but holy and worthy. When we see Him for who He is, all our fears lose their power. His presence becomes our safe place. His Word becomes our guide. And His approval becomes enough.
So if you feel pulled in a hundred directions by pressure or expectations, take a moment to breathe. Let the fear fall. Trust the One who holds you.
Reflection Question: What area of your life do you need to stop fearing people and start trusting God?
Prayer: Lord, I do not want to live trapped by fear or driven by what others think. Help me to trust You completely. Thank You for being my safe place. Fill my heart with Your peace and give me the courage to walk in freedom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
