Run to Win

Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So, run to win!1 Corinthians 9:24 (NLT)

There’s something inspiring about someone who refuses to coast through life and instead chooses to keep pressing forward with purpose. Tom Brady was a perfect example of that kind of mindset when it came to football. At an age when most players had long retired, he was still suiting up, still winning, still breaking records. His secret wasn’t luck. It was discipline. Brady was known for his commitment to a consistent training schedule, nutrition, recovery, and mental sharpness. Everything in his life was aligned around one goal, being ready to win.

Paul taps into that same image when he tells us to ā€œrun to win.ā€ He’s not saying life is a competition against other people. He’s reminding us that we’re called to live with intention. In a world full of distractions, it’s easy to lose focus, to drift, or to settle. But Paul says don’t just run, run like someone who has their eyes on the prize.

That prize isn’t temporary like a medal or a trophy. It’s eternal. It’s the reward of walking closely with Jesus, fulfilling your purpose, and living in such a way that heaven celebrates. But just like any great athlete, we don’t get there by accident. It takes spiritual training. Daily time with God. Letting go of distractions. Saying no to what weighs us down so we can say yes to what matters most.

Today, no matter where you are on your journey, you can choose to live with purpose. You can get back in the race. You can run to win. Jesus is with you every step of the way, cheering you on and reminding you that the prize is worth it.

Reflection Question: Take a moment to think:Ā What is one area in your life where you’ve felt distracted or discouraged? How can you refocus and run your race with purpose today?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for calling me to live with purpose. Help me to fix my eyes on You and not be distracted by things that don’t matter. Strengthen me to run this race with endurance and joy, knowing that You are with me and the reward You have for me is eternal. In Jesus name, Amen.
