Worthy of His Calling
From Todayās One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. - 2 Thessalonians 1:11 (NLT)
Thereās something powerful about being reminded that weāve been called by God. Itās not just a general call to be a better person or to follow a set of rules. Itās a divine invitation to walk in purpose, to live in the strength that only He provides, and to reflect His goodness in the world around us.
Paul writes to the Thessalonians not just with encouragement, but with prayer. He asks God to enable them, to give them what they need to actually live out their calling. That word āenableā reminds us that we donāt have to muster up the strength on our own. God empowers us with grace, wisdom, and courage to do what our faith stirs within us.
Sometimes we feel the nudge to serve, to speak up, to forgive, or to take a step of faith. But we hesitate. We feel unqualified, unsure, or simply worn out. This verse reminds us that when God calls us, He also equips us. He gives us power, not for our own recognition, but so that His name will be honored through our lives.
What a freeing truth. You donāt have to earn your calling. You just have to respond to it. Trust that God will give you everything you need to do the good things your faith inspires. And in doing so, His glory will shine through you.
Reflection Question: What is one good thing your faith is prompting you to do right now?Ā And how can you trust God for the strength to step into it?
Prayer: Father, thank You for calling me to live a life of purpose. I know I cannot do it on my own. Please give me the power to follow through on what Youāve placed in my heart. Help me to trust You more and walk in confidence, knowing that You are working through me for Your glory. In Jesusā name, Amen.
