Recall

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

It was the Lord who drove out the Amorites and the other nations living here in the land. So, we, too, will serve the Lord, for he alone is our God. - Joshua 24:18 (NLT)

There’s something powerful about remembering where you’ve been and how far God has brought you. That’s exactly what Joshua was doing with the people of Israel in this moment. After years of battles, wandering, and miraculous victories, Joshua gathered the tribes together for one important reason, to recall.

He reminded them, not just of their history, but of God’s history with them. He spoke of how the Lord had driven out their enemies, given them victories, and fulfilled His promises. This wasn’t just a trip down memory lane. It was a moment of decision. And after hearing it all again, the people responded, “We, too, will serve the Lord.”

Sometimes, we need to do the same. Life moves fast, and it’s easy to forget the breakthroughs, answered prayers, or even the quiet moments where God showed up right when we needed Him most. But when we take time to recall His faithfulness, it stirs our faith and reminds us that we’re not walking through life alone. The same God who brought you through before will be the same One who carries you through what’s ahead.

One great way to do this is by writing it down. Keep a journal, jot down the times God came through, no matter how big or small. Revisit those moments when your faith feels weak or when the future feels uncertain.

Today, let’s pause to recall what God has done. You’ll be amazed at how your heart responds, just like the people of Israel, with fresh commitment and trust.

Reflection Question: What’s one specific moment in your life when you clearly saw God move on your behalf?

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your constant faithfulness. Help me to remember all that You’ve done in my life. Let that remembrance build my trust and renew my desire to serve You wholeheartedly. In Jesus Name, Amen.
