Quiet Courage

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God. - Daniel 6:10 (NLT)

Daniel’s story never gets old. It is filled with consistency, courage, and quiet strength. One of the most powerful parts of his story is not just that he was saved from the lion’s den, but that he stayed faithful to God long before that moment ever came.

When Daniel heard about the new law that would cost him his life if he continued to pray, he did not panic. He did not protest. He simply went home and did what he had always done. He prayed. He trusted. He stayed steady. That kind of strength does not come from the spotlight. It comes from time spent with God in the quiet. It comes from a life built on daily devotion and deep trust.

Peter also writes in 2 Peter 3 about how easy it can be to lose heart when things take longer than expected. But he reminds us that God is not slow. He is patient. He is always working, even when we do not see it. That truth invites us to live like Daniel, rooted and steady, choosing obedience and trust every single day.

Courage is not always loud. Sometimes it looks like staying faithful when no one is watching. Sometimes it means doing the right thing simply because it honors God.

Reflection Question: Where is God calling you to stay steady and faithful, even when it’s not easy?

Prayer: Father, thank You for being the One I can trust in every situation. Help me stay faithful like Daniel. Give me quiet courage to keep doing what is right, even when it’s hard. Remind me that You are always working and always with me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
