Purposeful Builder
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” - Philippians 1:6 NLT
The story of the Brooklyn Bridge is inspiring on so many levels. What began as one man’s vision ended up becoming a legacy that spanned generations. When tragedy struck the Roebling family, it was not the end of the bridge. It was the beginning of something remarkable. Emily Roebling, who never set out to be an engineer, stepped up in the middle of crisis and carried the dream or her husband forward. She learned what she needed to learn. She took the plans and helped bring them to life by completing the project.
Her story reminds us that sometimes life takes unexpected turns. We may not always feel equipped or ready for the role we find ourselves in. But God is not surprised by anything. He is the One who began the good work in you. And not only did He begin it, He is fully committed to finishing it. That means you are not working alone.
God’s plan for your life is not a backup idea. It is not dependent on whether everything goes smoothly. His purpose for you is anchored in grace and built on His faithfulness. According to Ephesians 1:4, His plans for you were set in place before the world began. And in Jeremiah 29:11, He reminds us that His plans are good, filled with hope and a future.
Like Emily Roebling, you may be navigating unfamiliar territory or facing challenges you never expected. But just like her, you are not alone. Your Builder knows the design. He sees the end from the beginning, and He never quits on what He starts.
Today, rest in knowing that your life is in the hands of a master Builder. He is working with you and in you. And He will see it through.
Reflection Question: Where in your life do you need to be reminded that God is still building something good?
Prayer: Father, thank You for being the Builder of my life. Thank You for never giving up on what You start. Help me to trust You in every step, especially when I cannot see the full picture. Strengthen me to work with You and walk in the purpose You have designed just for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
