Press On

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. - Philippians 3:14 (NLT)

Life often feels like a long-distance run. Just when you think you’ve hit your stride, a new uphill stretch appears. It takes something deeper than willpower to keep going. It takes grace. The kind of grace that keeps lifting your feet when your heart wants to stop.

In the movie Secretariat, we watch a legendary racehorse run with such fierce determination that he shattered records and inspired a nation. After his death, it was discovered that his heart was literally twice the size of a normal horse’s. But it wasn’t just about his physical heart. It was his spirit. He ran with everything he had.

That same kind of drive is what the Apostle Paul tapped into. Not for applause or personal gain, but to know Jesus more and to finish the race God had marked out for him. Paul had credentials. He had recognition. But once he encountered the grace of Christ, he realized none of that could compare to the surpassing joy of knowing Him. Everything else took a back seat.

Paul did not run fueled by pressure or perfectionism. He ran with purpose. Grace gave him permission to forget what was behind and press forward to what really mattered. That same grace is available to you. It picks you up when you stumble. It reminds you that you are not running alone. And it keeps your eyes fixed on the prize that outshines anything you have left behind.

Reflection Question: What is one truth about God’s grace that gives you strength to keep moving forward today?

Prayer: Father, thank You for calling me onward. Thank You that I do not run this race alone. Fill me with Your strength and grace to press forward. Help me release what no longer serves me and hold tightly to You. I trust You to finish the good work You started in me. In Jesus name, Amen.
