Perfect Love for Imperfect Days
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. - 1 John 4:18 (NLT)
Knowing you are deeply loved without conditions is one of the most powerful, life-transforming truths we can know. Not loved because you performed well. Not loved because you had a good day. Not loved because you said all the right things or made all the right choices. Just loved.
God’s love is not based on your perfection. It is rooted in His character. And His love is perfect. It does not flinch when you struggle. It does not withdraw when you feel weak. It does not turn away when your emotions get messy or your confidence wavers.
Fear tries to tell you that if you are not good enough, God will pull back. That if you mess up, you will miss out. But perfect love shuts that voice down. It reminds you that Jesus already carried the punishment. Already made the way. Already gave His life so you could live in freedom.
You do not have to live guarded with God. You do not have to brace for rejection or tiptoe around Him hoping you are still in His favor. His love is not fragile. It is not temporary. It is not waiting to be earned. It is strong enough to handle all of you and faithful enough to never let go.
So if fear has been loud lately, let love be louder. Let His love settle your heart and speak peace to your thoughts. You are safe with Him.
Reflection Question: Where has fear been getting in the way of fully receiving God’s love for you?
Prayer: Father, thank You for loving us perfectly. Thank You that we never have to fear losing Your love or messing things up beyond repair. Help us trust that we are safe with You. Let Your love quiet our fears and fill our hearts with peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
