Living for God in the Everyday

“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” -1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT

Sometimes it’s easy to think that living for God means doing big, spiritual things like praying, serving, or reading the Bible. And while those are all important, what if living for God is also about the little, everyday things? That’s exactly what Paul is getting at in Romans 14:8-9, where he says, "If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord." Everything, every moment, big or small, can be lived for Him.

In Romans 14, Paul addresses a group of people with different views and convictions about things like what food is okay to eat or what days are most important to observe. Some felt strongly about certain things, others didn’t. Paul doesn’t ask them to agree on everything, but he encourages them to respect one another and do everything in love, with God in mind. The key is living out of the freedom that comes with knowing Jesus.

And that’s where grace makes all the difference. When we understand that Jesus has already done the heavy lifting for us, we realize we’re not bound by rules or restrictions. We’re free to live authentically, honoring God in everything we do. Whether it’s enjoying a meal, taking a walk, or working, we can do it with the intention of bringing God glory.

It’s not about striving to be perfect or constantly worrying about doing everything “right.” It’s about living in the freedom Jesus offers and using everything, every simple, ordinary moment, as an opportunity to reflect His love and grace.

Reflection Question: How can you bring God into the everyday moments of your life today?

Prayer: God, thank You for the freedom I have in You. Help me to see the little things in my day as chances to honor You. Teach me to live in Your grace, remembering that everything I do can be for Your glory. In Jesus' name, amen.
