Lifted Again
âYou have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy.â â Psalm 30:11 (NLT)
Life can bring us to our knees. Sometimes the joy feels drained out of us, and all we can do is hold on. David knew that feeling well. In Psalm 30, he reflects honestly on how God met him in his lowest moments and lifted him up. God didnât just restore him, He changed his posture from mourning to dancing, from heaviness to joy.
Davidâs psalm came after a season of being brought back from deep despair. His experience wasnât because he was perfect but because God is faithful.
Joy from God is deeper than circumstances. Itâs rooted in who He is and what He does. He restores, renews, and lifts us again and again.
Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 4 that even when weâre misunderstood or mistreated, we hold the mysteries of God. Our identity and purpose arenât shaped by othersâ approval but by the One who called us.
Maybe your joy feels buried right now, but God is not finished. Like David, He can lift you again. Sorrow is not forever, and your story isnât over. God knows how to clothe you with joy and turn your mourning into dancing.
Reflection Question: Where in your life do you need to believe that God is bringing joy back to you?
Prayer: Father, thank You for being the One who lifts me up. Even in seasons of loss or discouragement, I trust You are at work. Restore my joy and remind me that You are not done writing my story. In Jesusâ name, amen.
