Let Him
Todayâs key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. - Psalm 28:7 (NLT)
In the final days before the cross, Jesus looked over Jerusalem with deep sorrow. His heart broke not just over what was coming, but over what had already been lost, His people would not let Him love and protect them. âHow often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you would not let me.â (Matthew 23:37)
Can you feel the emotion in those words? Jesus longed to shield them, cover them, and care for them, but they refused.
Sometimes, without even realizing it, we do the same. We carry burdens He wants to bear. We worry, overthink, or strive to fix things ourselves instead of letting Him be our help and our shield. But Psalm 28:7 reminds us that when we do let Him in, when we trust Him with all our heart, He helps us, fills us with joy, and gives us a song of thanksgiving in return.
Letting Him doesnât mean we ignore problems. It means we bring them fully to Him. It means we stop trying to be our own strength and let Him be the Shepherd He longs to be in our lives.
Whatever is weighing on you today, fear, anxiety, uncertainty, or pain, Jesus is inviting you to let Him gather you under His wing. Let Him be your protector, your peace, and your provider. Trust Him fully, and joy will follow.
Reflection Question: Is there something youâre holding onto that you need to release into Jesusâ care today?
Prayer: Lord, forgive me for the times Iâve tried to carry what You have already offered to take. Today, I choose to let You be my strength and shield. I place my trust in You and receive Your joy. In Jesus Name, Amen.
