Lasting Praise

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman’s deed will be remembered and discussed. - Matthew 26:13 (NLT)

In a moment that stunned an entire room, one woman’s act of devotion etched her name into eternity. She broke open a costly alabaster jar and poured its contents—pure perfume, onto Jesus, not caring about the whispers or judgment around her. What others called a “waste,” Jesus called worship.

Her gift wasn’t just about perfume, it was about perspective. She saw Jesus for who He truly was: the Savior who had forgiven her and given her new life. Her offering was extravagant because her gratitude was overwhelming. She didn’t save some back. She didn’t wait for a more convenient time. She gave all she had in that moment, holding nothing in reserve.

That kind of praise still speaks volumes today. Jesus said her act would be remembered wherever the Gospel is preached, and it is. That’s the power of lasting praise. It’s not about impressing people; it’s about honoring the One who changed everything. When we give Jesus our wholehearted worship, whether in our prayers, our service, our time, or our treasure, it’s never forgotten. Heaven takes note.

Maybe others don’t understand your devotion. Maybe they think your level of commitment is too much. But if your heart is moved by what Jesus has done for you, let your praise match that grace. Like the woman with the alabaster jar, your worship tells a story. And that story just might lead someone else to the feet of Jesus.

Reflection Question: What does wholehearted worship look like for you today, and how can you pour it out before Jesus?

Prayer: Jesus, You are worthy of my everything. Help me never to hold back when it comes to worshipping You. Teach me to give You my best, my time, my love, and my heart. Let my life be a reflection of lasting praise. In Jesus Name, Amen.
