Keep Pouring

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. - Luke 6:38 (NIV)

When the widow in 2 Kings 4 came to Elisha desperate and drowning in debt, God’s answer came not through an immediate bailout, but through a process: pour out what you have. The oil didn’t stop flowing until there were no more vessels left to fill. The miracle was in the pouring.

This is a beautiful picture of grace in action. God doesn’t ask us to give from what we don’t have, He simply asks us to trust Him with what’s already in our possession. Whether it’s encouragement, time, resources, or kindness, when we choose to pour into others, God is faithful to refill and multiply what’s in our hands.

It’s tempting to hold back when we feel empty or unsure if our efforts make a difference. But grace reminds us that we’re not pouring from our own limited supply, we’re pouring from the overflow of God’s goodness. Jesus taught us in Luke 6:38 that what we give will return to us in abundance. That promise isn’t just about material blessings; it includes joy, strength, and spiritual renewal.

The Kingdom principle is simple: keep pouring, and God keeps filling. The more we make room for others, the more God makes room in us for His power, His peace, and His provision. The only limit to the flow is our willingness to keep going.

Reflection Question: Who is God asking you to pour into today, and are you willing to trust Him to keep the oil flowing?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for being the Source that never runs dry. Help me to pour out what You’ve given me, my time, love, and resources, without fear of lack. Teach me to give as an act of trust, knowing You are always faithful to fill again. In Jesus Name, Amen.
