Keep Knocking

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

So I say to you: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. - Luke 11:9-10 (NIV)

Ever feel like your prayers are just hitting the ceiling? Like you’re knocking, but nobody’s home? It’s easy to get discouraged when we don’t see immediate answers, but Jesus tells us not to give up. Ask. Seek. Knock. And then… keep knocking.

The other day I was grabbing dinner, nothing fancy, just a normal night. As I was paying, I casually asked the cashier how she was doing. She told me her ankle had been hurting, a lingering injury that flared up when it was about to rain. It was hurting so badly, she could barely walk.

I could’ve just said, ā€œAw, I’m sorry, hope it gets better!ā€ But in that moment, I felt a nudge, pray for her. So I did. Nothing dramatic. No spotlight moment. But after I prayed, she looked at me with a big smile, surprised and deeply touched. God showed up.

And here’s what hit me later: someone may have been praying for her. Maybe even she was. And I got to be part of that answer, just by being available.

In Acts 12, Peter literally kept knocking on the door of the people who were praying for him. They were so shocked to see him free, they almost missed the miracle. But Peter didn’t stop. He knew what God had done, and he didn’t give up until the door opened.

So here’s the reminder: don’t stop praying. Don’t stop believing. And don’t stop being available, you might be the one God sends to someone else’s door.

Reflection Question: Who might be waiting on the other side of a door you’re being nudged to knock on?Ā

Prayer: Lord, thank You for inviting me to ask, seek, and knock. Help me not to give up too soon. Open my heart to Your promptings and make me available to be the answer to someone else’s prayer. Give me the courage to follow those nudges today. In Jesus Name, Amen.
