If They Only Knew

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

This is my command, be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. - Joshua 1:9 (NLT)

Have you ever looked at a situation and thought, “There’s no way I can handle this”? That’s probably how Joshua felt stepping into Moses’ shoes. Moses, the guy who parted the Red Sea, met with God face-to-face, and led millions of people for decades. Now it was Joshua’s turn to lead the people into the Promised Land. Talk about pressure.

So what’s the first thing Joshua does? He sends out two spies to scope out Jericho. Smart move, he remembers the mess from 40 years earlier when fear and doubt paralyzed their parents. This time, he sends two faithful ones who return with an incredible report, straight from an unlikely source: Rahab.

She tells them something wild. Everyone in Jericho is terrified. Word has spread about what God did for Israel, the Red Sea, the victories in the wilderness, people are trembling. The city’s confidence is shattered.

Can you imagine what those two spies were thinking as they headed back? “Wait a minute… we’ve been so afraid of them, but they’ve been afraid of us this whole time?” If their parents had only known, maybe they wouldn’t have wandered for 40 years.

Here’s the truth: the enemy wants to convince you that you’re weak, defeated, and not enough. But he’s terrified that you’ll realize who you really are in Christ, empowered, loved, and backed by Almighty God.

So today, hold your head high. Move forward. Be bold. God is with you, and your enemy is already shaking.

Reflection Question: Is there anywhere you have been holding back because you didn’t realize the strength you have in Christ?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for always going with me. Remind me that I don’t have to live in fear because You are fighting for me. Help me walk with boldness and courage, knowing who I am in You. In Jesus Name, Amen.
