Humanly Impossible

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

Jesus looked at them intently and said, ‘Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.’ - Mark 10:27 (NLT)

As a child, I once watched the legendary Paul Anderson, then known as the world’s strongest man, perform an incredible feat. With a large group of men, and even me, a first grader, standing on top of a heavy wooden table, he lifted the entire platform off the ground. It was jaw-dropping, something that seemed humanly impossible. But what got Paul Anderson even more excited about performing feats of strength was the supernatural power of God to save and transform lives. That’s why he spent his life traveling, not just to display strength, but to proclaim the gospel.

In Mark 10, Jesus explained that entering the Kingdom of God is no small task, in fact, it’s impossible on human terms. He compares it to a camel going through the eye of a needle, an exaggerated but powerful image to show just how unattainable salvation is through human effort. The disciples were stunned and asked, “Then who can be saved?” Jesus’ answer was clear: “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But not with God. Everything is possible with God.”

That’s the heart of the gospel, we cannot save ourselves. No amount of goodness, effort, or strength can earn us eternal life. But God, through Jesus Christ, has made a way where there was no way. What is impossible for us is completely possible with Him.

Let that truth settle into your spirit today. Don’t try to carry the weight of salvation or righteousness on your own shoulders. Trust the One who already carried it all to the cross for you.

Reflection Question: Are there areas in your life where you’ve been relying on your own strength instead of trusting God?

Prayer: Father, thank You that with You, all things are possible. Forgive me for the times I’ve tried to handle life in my own strength. Help me to trust fully in the finished work of Jesus and to rest in Your power to do what I cannot. In Jesus Name, Amen.
