His Prayer For You
Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. - John 17:20 (NLT)
In John 17, we get a glimpse of Jesus praying before His journey to the cross. What’s incredible here is that He’s not just praying for the disciples who are with Him in that moment. He’s praying for you and me, for all who will believe in Him through their message. Think about that for a second: Jesus, knowing He was about to face immense suffering, still made time to pray for us. And what is He praying for? Unity, protection, joy, and that we would fully experience God’s love.
When I read this, I’m reminded that God’s heart for us is huge. Jesus is not only praying that we would be united with each other but also that we would know the depth of His love, that we would be fully secure in Him. Even when life gets messy or we’re struggling to keep it all together, Jesus is still interceding for us. He’s praying for our hearts to be filled with peace and joy, no matter what’s going on around us.
And here’s the best part: Jesus is still praying for us today. The same love He had for His disciples; He has for us. It’s not a one-time thing. He’s actively lifting us up, supporting us, and asking the Father to help us stay close to Him. Knowing that should give us so much confidence and peace.
Reflection Question: How does it change the way you view your day, knowing that Jesus is praying for you to experience His love and peace?
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for loving me so much that You pray for me. Help me to feel Your presence today and to walk in the joy and peace You want for me. Remind me that You’re always with me, praying for me, no matter what. In Jesus Name, Amen.
