His Gift of Peace

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

Love truth and peace. - Zechariah 8:19 (NLT)

There is something about Christmas morning that carries a quiet stillness. Whether your house is full of celebration, or you are taking it slow with coffee and reflection, there is a kind of peace we long for more than anything. Not just the peace of a silent night, but a peace that stays when the wrapping paper is gone and the decorations come down.

Zechariah speaks of a day when God would bring restoration and joy back to His people. They had known hardship, but God was promising renewal. He told them to love truth and peace. That was more than a command. It was an invitation. An invitation to live differently. To walk in what He was freely giving.

Christmas is the proof that God keeps His promises. Jesus is the Prince of Peace, not just in title but in reality. He came into a world that was dark and divided and anxious, and He brought the peace of Heaven right down into a manger. And that peace is still available to us today.

Psalm 144 ends with a simple but powerful line: “Yes, joyful are those whose God is the Lord.” Not because everything is perfect, but because the One who holds everything is present and near. The kind of peace God gives is not based on the world around us but on the Savior within us.

So today, take a breath and receive His peace. Let it settle into your heart, not just as a feeling, but as a foundation. This is not a peace you have to earn. It is a gift. Just like Jesus.

Reflection Question: What would it look like to truly receive the peace of Christ this Christmas and carry it into every day afterward?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. Thank You for the peace that surpasses understanding and for coming into our world to bring hope and calm to our hearts. Help me to receive Your peace fully today and live in it every day. Let Your truth and peace guide me through every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
