His Battle

“He said, ‘Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.’” - 2 Chronicles 20:15 NLT

There are moments in life when we feel like the odds are stacked too high. Whether it’s a financial crisis, a health scare, a family issue, or the weight of anxiety pressing in, the struggle can feel way bigger than us. That’s exactly where the people of Judah were in 2 Chronicles 20. They were completely surrounded and outmatched. But God had a message for them, and it’s the same message He speaks to us today: This is not your battle to fight alone. It’s His.

Throughout Scripture, we see this pattern over and over again. Elisha and his servant surrounded by an army, the people of Samaria trapped in famine, and King Jehoshaphat standing before an impossible situation. In each of these moments, God didn’t just show up. He completely turned the tide. He brought victory. He brought provision. He brought peace. And He did it in a way that made it clear, this was His fight.

The same is true for us. When we belong to Jesus, we are not left to fight our battles on our own. He already won the ultimate battle on the cross, and because of that, we can trust Him with every smaller one we face today. God is not just willing to fight for you. He wants to. Because He loves you deeply. He proved that by giving His own Son for you, and as Paul reminds us in Romans 8:32, if He gave us Jesus, how much more will He graciously give us everything we need?

So take a breath. You don’t have to figure it all out or carry it all alone. This battle belongs to Him.

Reflection Question: What situation in your life do you need to hand back over to God and trust Him to fight for you?

Prayer: Father, thank You that I never have to face life’s battles alone. Remind me today that You are with me and for me. I lay my worries and fears at Your feet, trusting that You are already working things out for my good. Thank You for loving me enough to fight for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
