Held by His Mercy
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His faithful love endures forever. - Psalm 136:1 (NLT)
His faithful love endures forever.” Doesn’t that bring a steadiness to your heart? Not for a moment. Not for a season. Forever. Through every twist and turn, in every high and low, God’s love never wears out or gives up. It does not shift based on how we feel or what we do. It holds us. It keeps us.
Psalm 136 repeats this truth again and again. Each line tells a story of God’s power, His provision, His deliverance, and right after each one, the same phrase returns: His faithful love endures forever. It’s as if God wanted to make sure we never forget that no matter what He does, or allows, it always flows from His enduring love.
Nahum gives us a different but important angle. Even in speaking of God’s justice and His power over evil, we see hope. Nahum 1:7 tells us that the Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in Him. Even when the world feels unstable, even when things are shaking, God is still good, and His love still stands.
Sometimes we may not understand what God is doing. Sometimes life feels overwhelming. But one thing is certain: His love will not let you go. When you are weak, He is strong. When you are unsure, He is faithful. And when you feel lost, His mercy finds you.
Take a moment today and let that sink in: you are fully known and fully loved by a God whose mercy never runs out.
Reflection Question: How can you rest in God’s enduring love in a deeper way today?
Prayer: Father, thank You for loving me with a love that never fails. Help me to trust Your heart when I do not understand Your hand. Let Your mercy calm my soul and remind me that I am always held by You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
