He Loves to Give
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
Hear my prayer, O Lord; listen to my plea. Answer me because you are faithful and righteous. - Psalm 143:1 (NLT)
There is something about Christmas that softens our hearts and stirs our memories. Maybe it is the lights, the music, or simply the quiet moments when everything slows down just enough to feel the deeper things. In the middle of all the celebration, there is a cry in many hearts that still longs for peace, for direction, or for healing. And the beautiful truth is these are gifts God still loves to give.
Psalm 143 is a heartfelt cry from David. He is overwhelmed and unsure, and he turns to the Lord not because he feels worthy, but because he knows God is faithful. That is the foundation of every prayer we pray. We do not come because we have it all together. We come because He is good.
Zechariah reminds us of something powerful as well. God sees the heart. When His people asked about fasting, He asked them if they had been doing it for Him or just for themselves. He was not looking for routine. He was looking for real connection. That is what Christmas is all about. Not a routine or ritual, but a relationship. The gift of Jesus was God saying, I hear you. I see you. And I am coming close.
So in this season, whether your heart is full or feeling a little fragile, remember this. The greatest gift was not wrapped in paper, but in flesh. It is the gift of presence. Of mercy. Of hope. And it still speaks today.
You can talk to God honestly. He is still listening. And He is still faithful.
Reflection Question: What promise of God are you holding onto today?
Prayer: Thank You, Father, for the powerful signs of Your promises. Help me to live each day aware of Your favor, resting in the finished work of Jesus and walking in the fullness of all You’ve provided. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
