Hang On

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

But they could think of nothing, because all the people hung on every word he said. - Luke 19:48 (NLT)

In Luke 19, we see a powerful moment: religious leaders, consumed with anger, tried to find any reason to trap Jesus, but the crowds adored Him. Despite their hatred for what Jesus stood for, the people “hung on every word” He spoke. That phrase “hung on every word” makes me think about how desperately we need Jesus’ truth. In the middle of opposition, confusion, or frustration, His words bring clarity, hope, and life.

Jesus had a way of speaking that drew people in, offering hope and peace even when the world felt chaotic. The same words that upset the religious leaders were the ones that gave life to the brokenhearted. There’s something about the voice of Jesus, His words don’t just inform us; they transform us.

Now, think about the situation in your life where you’re waiting on God, maybe even struggling to see things change. Maybe it’s been tough, and you’ve felt like giving up. It’s easy to focus on what we can’t see or what hasn’t happened yet. But today, I want to encourage you to hang on to His promises. Just like the people who eagerly listened to Him, let’s hold on to every word Jesus has spoken over our lives. His words have power to change everything.

The truth is, God doesn’t want us to settle for less than His best. His word is life, and it's more than enough to see us through. If you're waiting for God to come through in a big way, don't let go. Keep hanging on to what He has said.

Reflection Question: Is there an area of your life you need to “hang on” to God’s promises today?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the power of Your words. Today, I choose to hang on to Your promises, no matter how things look. I trust that Your truth will guide me through every challenge, and I will not give up. Strengthen me to keep believing in Your goodness and Your timing. In Jesus Name, Amen.
