Grace-Soaked Truth
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin.But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. - 1 John 2:1 (NLT)
You ever have one of those days where your heart feels heavy not from outside pressure but from your own choices? Maybe you said something you shouldn't have. Maybe you snapped at someone in frustration or let your thoughts wander where they shouldn't have gone. Whatever it was, guilt settles in and it can feel like it builds a wall between you and God.
But here’s the grace-soaked truth: Jesus is not standing at a distance with crossed arms. He’s not disappointed in you. He’s your advocate. That means He’s standing right beside you, speaking up for you. Not making excuses for sin but making a way through it. His righteousness covers you, not because you earned it, but because He gave it. That’s the beauty of grace.
John wasn’t giving us a license to sin. He was reminding us that when we stumble, we don’t fall out of God’s love. We fall into His mercy. Jesus already paid for it. Already carried the weight. Already rose victorious. So when we miss the mark, we don’t have to spiral into shame. We come close to the One who already made us clean.
So let today be one of freedom. Not because you got everything right, but because Jesus already did. Walk in that grace. Let it fuel your faith. Let it shape how you love, forgive, and move forward.
Reflection Question: Where in your life do you need to receive God’s grace instead of staying stuck in guilt?
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for being my Advocate. When I fall short, You don’t shame me , You stand with me. Help me receive Your grace and live from it, not just for myself but for those around me. Thank You for loving me so faithfully. In Jesus’ name, amen.
