Grace Makes Room

"Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past." —Psalm 25:6 (NLT)

God’s grace has always had a way of making room for those who least expect it. In 2 Chronicles 30, King Hezekiah invited the people of Israel to return to the Lord and celebrate the Passover together. What stands out isn’t just the invitation, but how many who responded weren’t ceremonially clean or fully prepared according to the law. Still, they came. And instead of turning them away, Hezekiah prayed for them, asking God to forgive and accept them. And God did. He saw their hearts and responded with healing. That is what grace looks like.

God doesn’t wait for us to have it all together. He meets us where we are, in our desire to turn toward Him, even if we feel a little messy or unqualified. His compassion goes before the rules, and His love reaches further than our mistakes. That’s the kind of grace that draws us in and changes us from the inside out.

In Romans 15, Paul echoes this same theme, calling us to bear with one another and build each other up. Christ came to serve and welcome those who didn’t belong. The grace we’ve received is the grace we’re called to extend to others.

Wherever you find yourself today, know there is room for you, not because you’ve earned it, but because Jesus made a way. Let that truth steady your heart. Let it remind you that His compassion and unfailing love are still at work in your life, just as they’ve always been.

Reflection Question: Where do you need to stop striving and simply receive the grace that’s already been extended to you?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for always making room for me. Even when I fall short or feel unworthy, Your grace is still enough. Help me to rest in Your compassion and to extend that same love to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
