Grace In The Gaps
Todayâs key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
Anxiety in a manâs heart weighs it down, but a good word makes it glad. - Proverbs 12:25 (ESV)
Ever have one of those days where the weight of everything feels like itâs just too much? I know I have. Life can get overwhelming, and it's easy to get bogged down by all the things we're juggling. But the good news is, Godâs grace is there for us in the middle of those moments.
In todayâs reading from Deuteronomy 33, Moses is blessing the tribes of Israel before his death. It's so powerful because instead of focusing on their mistakes or shortcomings, he speaks words of encouragement. He couldâve pointed out all the reasons they werenât good enough, but instead, he chose to speak life over them. Moses says, "Let Reuben live and not die." How powerful is that? He spoke grace into their future.
Then, in Luke 13, Jesus tells a parable about a fig tree that hasnât produced fruit. The owner wants to cut it down, but the gardener pleads for one more year to give it extra care and attention. Thatâs a picture of Godâs grace in our lives! Even when we donât seem to be bearing fruit or we feel stuck, Heâs patient and willing to give us another chance.
And in Psalm 78, we see Godâs faithfulness, even when Israel kept messing up. He never gave up on them. He chose David to lead them, even though he wasnât perfect. Itâs a reminder that God sees the potential in us, even in our mess.
Finally, Proverbs 12:25 reminds us how powerful words can be. A simple, kind word can lift someoneâs spirits, even on their hardest day.
Reflection Question: Is there someone in your life today who could use a word of grace or encouragement?Â
Prayer: God, thank You for Your endless patience and grace. Help me to be someone who speaks life and encouragement into the lives of others. Let my words reflect Your love and bring joy to those who need it most. In Jesus Name, Amen.
