God's Two-Step
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” - Philippians 2:13 NLT
I am not what you would call a dancer. Sure, I’ve got a few moves, but nothing that would land me a spot on a stage. Still, I’ve always admired the simplicity and flow of a good two-step. It is one of the most popular partner dances out there, not because it is flashy or complicated, but because it is smooth and simple. Two moves. That is it. Yet when done in rhythm with a partner who knows how to lead, it can look effortless.
That image of the two-step reminds me a lot of how God works with us. He is the lead in our dance of life, and we get to follow His movements. He is never out of step. He always knows the direction. And the best part is that He does not expect us to figure it out on our own.
In Philippians 2:13, we get this powerful truth. God is the One working in us. He is the One giving us both the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. It is not about trying harder or stressing over every move. It is about trusting the One who leads.
This is grace in action. God is not standing off in the distance with a checklist. He is present. He is active. He gives you the desire to follow Him and the strength to carry it out. You do not have to fake it or force it. When He leads, He also supplies.
So today, step in rhythm with Him. Let His love guide you. Let His Spirit empower you. The dance may take you places you never expected, but when He leads, it always ends in joy.
Reflection Question: Where in your life do you need to stop striving and start trusting God's lead?
Prayer: Father, thank You for giving me both the desire and the power to follow You. Help me to rest in Your rhythm today and trust You to lead. I believe You are working in me and through me. I choose to let You guide every step. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
