Stand Free

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.” -Galatians 5:1 NLT

There is something powerful about freedom. The feeling of fresh air after being stuck inside. The joy of walking out of a heavy season and into peace. You can feel it in your chest. Lighter. Open. Free.

Paul was writing to a group of believers who had experienced this kind of spiritual freedom through Jesus. They had heard the good news of grace and embraced it. But somewhere along the way, they started to drift. People came in and told them they needed to do more. Follow rules. Keep certain traditions. Add something to the finished work of the cross.

Paul could not stay silent. He reminded them what was true. Christ has already set you free. Not partway. Not conditionally. Not temporarily. Truly and completely free. Do not give that up. Do not trade grace for pressure. Do not let anyone convince you that Jesus plus anything else is better.

This same reminder still speaks today. It is easy to slip back into performance. We think we have to earn our place with God. We carry guilt and try to fix ourselves. We keep score. We try harder. But the truth of the gospel never changes. You are already accepted. Already loved. Already made right with God because of Jesus. That is your freedom. Stand in it. Stay in it.

You do not have to prove yourself. Just keep walking in the grace that saved you.

Reflection Question: Are you resting in the freedom Jesus gave you, or have you started to carry burdens He already took away?

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for setting me free. Help me not to pick up what You already laid down. Teach me to walk in grace and live with open hands. I do not want to go back to striving. I want to stay in the freedom You gave me. In Jesus Name, Amen.
