Freedom by His Spirit
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
Then he said to me, This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. - Zechariah 4:6 (NLT)
God makes clear, through the Prophet Zechariah, that the breakthroughs we long for, and the victories we need do not come from sheer effort or natural ability. They come by His Spirit. That is both humbling and freeing.
Think about David facing Goliath. He did not win that battle because of impressive armor or years of military training. He won because he trusted the Lord. Think about Jericho. The walls did not fall because the people pushed hard enough. They fell because they obeyed God and let Him move. Time and again, Scripture shows us that true success begins with surrender.
Even in the story of America’s birth, you can see the fingerprints of God. Miraculous victories and unlikely provisions filled those early years. Not because the odds were in those founders’ favor, but because they leaned on a greater power. They believed they were called, and they dared to step out in faith.
So what about you? Is there something in your life that has kept you feeling stuck or weighed down? Maybe it’s time to declare your own independence from fear, from shame, from doubt, or from anything that has tried to hold you back. It’s not about trying harder; it’s about leaning in closer. It’s about saying yes to what God is calling you to do and trusting Him to do what only He can do.
Today, let His Spirit be your strength. Let His voice be your guide. Victory will come, not by force or striving, but by walking step by step with Him.
Reflection Question: What area of your life is God asking you to release into His Spirit instead of trying to handle on your own?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for being my strength and my victory. Help me to stop striving and start trusting. Show me where I need to let go and follow Your Spirit. I declare my independence from anything that’s held me back and walk in the freedom You have provided. Fill me with Your power and peace today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
