Fear Not

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. - 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)

In 1933, during his first inaugural address, President Franklin D. Roosevelt stood before a fearful nation and declared words that still echo today. He said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Those words carried weight. They lifted hearts during a time of deep economic pain and helped push an entire country through the trials of war and into a future filled with new hope.

Fear is real. We feel it after loss, during change, or in the middle of uncertainty. But while fear may visit, it was never meant to stay. Fear should not lead us because God gave us something much stronger. His Spirit is one of power, love, and a sound mind.

The Bible tells us again and again to fear not. Some say those words show up 365 times in Scripture. If that is true, then God gave us one “Fear Not” for every single day of the year. That is not just repetition. That is a message from the heart of a Father who does not want His children living in anxiety or intimidation.

You may be standing at the edge of something new. Maybe God is nudging you forward into a season you do not fully understand. You feel the tension between fear and faith. That is normal. But just because fear shows up does not mean it gets to have the final word.

Jesus has already overcome every fear you could ever face. You are not alone, and you are not under. You are covered. You are called. And you are more than a conqueror.

Reflection Question: Is there a place in your life where fear has been trying to hold you back from something God is calling you to walk into?

Prayer: Father, thank You that I do not have to live in fear. You have given me power, love, and a sound mind. Help me to walk forward in faith, trusting Your voice above every lie of the enemy. I receive Your peace today and choose courage over fear. In Jesus name, Amen.
