Faithfulness in the Ordinary

“Then Paul left Athens and went to Corinth. There he became acquainted with a Jew named Aquila… They were tentmakers, just as he was. So he stayed with them, and they worked together.” Acts 18:1-3 (NLT)

There’s something special about the way God meets us in the ordinary. In Acts 18, Paul had just come from Athens, a place of deep debate and high ideas. But when he got to Corinth, God didn’t start with a platform or a miracle. He started with a friendship. Paul met Aquila and Priscilla, and they worked together as tentmakers. That’s how their ministry began, not in the spotlight, but in the daily rhythm of shared labor.

Sometimes we expect our calling to show up in bold letters and loud moments. But often, God’s purpose unfolds quietly, through faithful work, consistent relationships, and divine appointments disguised as everyday life. Paul preached, yes, but he also sewed tents. He built the kingdom while building his craft.

There’s grace in the ordinary. Jesus meets us at the table, in the workshop, in the commute, in the in-between moments. He is just as present on a Monday morning as He is on a Sunday morning. Your workplace, your routine, your everyday rhythms, they are sacred ground when done with Him.

Aquila and Priscilla later became powerful leaders in the early church. But their ministry started with simple hospitality and shared work. Never underestimate what God can do through your “ordinary.”

You may not be standing on a stage or traveling across countries, but if you’re showing up with faithfulness, kindness, and a heart open to God, you’re part of something eternal.

Reflection Question: Where might God be working through the simple, daily moments in your life right now?

Prayer: Father, thank You for being present in every part of my life, not just the big or exciting moments. Help me to see You in the ordinary and to be faithful where You’ve placed me. Use my everyday life for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
