Faithful and Steady
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
The trustworthy person will get a rich reward, but a person who wants quick riches will get into trouble. - Proverbs 28:20 (NLT)
There is something special about slow and steady faithfulness. It does not always get noticed right away. It is not loud or flashy. But over time, it produces something beautiful and lasting. God is not looking for perfection or instant results. He is looking for people who will stay faithful to Him one day at a time.
In a world that is constantly rushing toward the next big thing, Proverbs reminds us that trustworthiness and consistency are what lead to a rich reward. Not just material reward, but the kind of deep peace and fulfillment that only God can give. When we live with integrity and patience, trusting God with the timing, we are planting seeds that will grow into something strong and lasting.
Daniel’s life shows this so clearly. In Daniel 5, we see him being called on to interpret writing on the wall for a king who had no respect for God. Daniel had been faithful behind the scenes for years, and even though he was not the most popular voice in the room, he was the one God used when it mattered most. His faithfulness over time positioned him to carry wisdom and courage into a very tense moment.
That is what faithfulness does. It prepares you. It positions you. It deepens your walk with God in a way that can hold up under pressure. You may not see the reward right away, but God sees your heart and your consistency, and His reward is sure to come.
Reflection Question: Where is God asking you to stay faithful even when results are not immediate?
Prayer: Father, thank You for seeing every step of obedience, even when no one else does. Help me to walk with integrity and patience. Remind me that faithfulness over time always bears fruit. Strengthen me to trust You with the process. In Jesus’ name, amen.
