Faith That Touches Jesus
Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
Dear woman, your faith is great. Your request is granted. - Matthew 15:28 (NLT)
Faith often grows in places we would never choose. In Matthew 15, a woman comes to Jesus desperate for help. She is outside the circle of those who feel entitled to His attention, and at first she is met with silence. Yet she refuses to walk away. Her persistence is not loud or demanding. It is humble and honest. She believes that even a small touch of Jesus’ mercy is enough to change everything.
What makes this moment so powerful is not just the miracle but Jesus’ response. He names her faith as great. Her faith is not built on status or understanding or perfect theology. It is built on trust. She believes that who Jesus is matters more than how the situation looks. Even when the door feels closed, she keeps knocking because she knows His heart is good.
This kind of faith is echoed throughout today’s readings. In Genesis, Jacob steps into an uncertain future as God reassures him of His presence and promises. The journey ahead is unfamiliar, but God goes with him. In Psalm 19, David reflects on how God reveals Himself through creation and through His Word. God is not hidden or distant. He speaks clearly to those who are willing to listen.
Faith is often tested in moments when answers are delayed or when God seems silent. Yet these moments can deepen our trust rather than destroy it. The woman in Matthew does not allow disappointment to define her story. She leans in rather than pulling away. And Jesus honors that faith with compassion and power.
Today, you may be carrying a prayer that feels unanswered or a burden that has grown heavy over time. This passage reminds us that faith is not about having all the right words. It is about coming to Jesus again and again, believing that His mercy is enough. Even when the wait is hard, faith keeps reaching for Him.
Reflection Question: Where might God be inviting you to keep trusting Him even when the answer feels delayed?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for welcoming faith that comes honestly and humbly to You. Help me not to lose heart when answers take time. Strengthen my trust in Your goodness and remind me that You see and care deeply about my needs. I place my hope in You today. In Jesus name, Amen.
